ambient sound collage

morphing memories

Guitar loops, modular synthesis and field recordings. Adding up to piles of slightly morphing memories. Sometimes personal, sometimes touching a collective mind. At times just euphonic.

about

how it started

Live set: modular synth, guitar and a drum computer on a table, in front of a microphone

Long train rides, an iPad, GarageBand, not much else. Then Superbooth happened. And a flea market find — a Korg Monologue, half by accident. That's where the rabbit hole opened up.

These days the live setup runs on a modular synth, guitar with an ebow, a handful of pedals. Sometimes a drum computer joins in. There's always a sampler, though — for smuggling in some field recordings.

None of this would have happened without listening for years to Stephan Karkowsky's Late Night Lounge on Radio Eins. His picks (Whitelabrecs, that whole world) were basically my way into ambient music. Probably where it all really started.

Other things happen too. Scroll down for those.
